I have come across problems whilst debating random topics with some of the online community. I cannot seem to pinpoint the exact nature of why these problems arise. Could it be ignorance? The need to create and maintain a fiscade online? The need to be dominant and loud no matter what in the face of logic?
I've always had a pure interest in a mature and logical debate. More times than not, the first problem arises with someone twisting my words by first taking them out of context and then extrapolating their perverted meaning. More times than not, said persons are individuals who are loud and and wanting to be the center of attention. While this may amuse the dumb it perplexes me and veers the debate off topic. The debate then seems to go into a whole new area of debate that is convoluted and lost in a topic-less mire.
When encountering such people I often find myself frustrate and at a loss how to proceed. When debating I usually do not bring my personal feelings and experiences into a debate but rather bring facts and logical points to actually fuel an intelligent debate. Though I come across many, even some in positions of power, who often seem to resort to childish ways and responses that often equate to nothing more than a mediocre "Nut-huhs" or "yea huhs" without little reverence to the original topic.
I simply wish that people would be mature enough to stay on topic and leave behind the pithy comments and childish retorts. Is that wanting too much out of humanity, honestly?
Instead of me becoming frustrated mid-debate with dolts; I wish they would inform me from the get go that their intentions are not of a mature debate but rather one filled with name calling.
